We’ve all heard the dilemma, what do you get for the girl that has everything.
I’m faced with a similar situation this week, but not in the typical manner that you would think. After reaching out to a colleague from my time in New York I found out some exciting news; she is expecting a baby girl in September.
Long story short, I wanted to show my support and excitement with a baby gift. Now cue the dilemma. What do you get for a baby that has an incredibly fashionable mother?
Although thoughts of baby ballgowns with tulle underlay, or leather jackets with signature detailing danced in my head, I was inspired by my own, more practical, fashion. After last week’s patched denim post, I decided the new baby needed to build her denim wardrobe from an exceptionally young age, and so the baby jean jacket was born (no pun intended).
To create this masterpiece (if I do say so myself), I first went to Baby Gap to get the bones of the project, the jacket. I then ventured to Joann Fabrics so that I could have a wide range of iron on applications to choose from. Although the aisle had an immense variety, I settled on a girly theme that wasn’t too ‘baby’. Check out the images below to see where you too can buy these patches!
Although all of the patches are iron-on, it’s important to note my commitment to immobile patches. Knowing myself and how messy I am, I cant even imagine how many times the baby’s jacket will need a good cleaning. Therefore, I hand-stiched each of the patches (while watching Bachelors in Paradise), so that I could guarantee a more durable product.
